Abstract

The purpose of this study (1) to describe the structure of Khrisna Pabichara's novel of Jenderal Kambing, (2) to describe the motivational value contained in Jenderal Kambing novel by Khrisna Pabichara, and (3) the implication as a teaching material in SMK. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data of this research are only primary data of novel of Jenderal Kambing by Khrisna Pabichara. Techniques of collecting data by library techniques, techniques refer and record. The validity of data used is source triangulation. Data analysis techniques are obtained from various sources, using various data. The theme of the novel is about the struggle of a cadet. The characters of this novel are Ibrahim, Ramalla, Salma, Intan, Mother Maryam, Guru Sopyan, Sham, Supriyadi, Wayan, Kulle, Romo, and Rahman. The groove used is the forward flow. The background of the novel is divided into three places, time and social background. Motivational aspects contained in the novel include motivation to meet social needs and motivation to meet the needs of selfesteem. This research will be used as teaching material in SMK class XI even semester on basic competence 3.20 Analyze the message of two books of fiction (novel and book collection of poetry) read. These basic competencies can be applied because they are in accordance with the criteria of teaching materials, namely language, psychology, and social background.
