Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the error form of sentence in the autobiography of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Karangpandan through the study of syntax, (2) to describe the cause of the error of sentence in autobiography of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Karangpandan through syntax study. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data in this research is a discourse in the autobiography of grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Karangpandan. Source of data in this research is library data, so in this research data source is autobiografi student of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Karangpandan. Techniques of collecting data using literature techniques, refer and record. Data analysis techniques using the agih method. The basic technique used is the technique of direct element or (PUL). The result of this research are (1) Error of language in the field of sentence found in Autobiography of class XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Karangpandan are as follows: (1) unbiblical sentence there are 6 data, (2) unpredictable sentence there are 4 data, ( 3) the sentence that there are two data, (4) duplication of the subject there are 3 data, (5) sentences that are inserted between predicate and object there are 2 data, (6) illogical sentence there are 3 data, (7) ambiguous sentence there 1 data, (8) conjunction disappearance there are 2 data, (9) excessive usage of konjungsi there are 5 data, (10) sequence of sentences that not parallel there 1 data, (11) use of foreign term there are 2 data, and (12) unquestionable question word there are 3 data. The type of language error in the majority of sentence field in the sentence is not subject. (2) The most dominant cause of error occurred in the autobiography of the Class XI Students in SMA Negeri 1 Karangpandan is an inappropriate wording with a total of 17 sentences. Meanwhile, the slightest error in the autobiography of grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Karangpandan is the incompleteness of the phrase element with the number of 5 sentences. This is influenced due to the lack of students' knowledge of the grammatical grammar of Indonesian standard.
