Abstract

Batik colored using natural dyes should have good quality fastness. Some leaf organs that can be utilized as a batik dye such as betel leaf, avocado leaf, mimosa leaf, jatropha leaf, and ceiba leaf. Long immersion that can produce good fastness value that is 25 minutes and 35 minutes with 3 times immersion. The purpose of this research to know the quality of natural dye batik cloth from some plant leaf organs on the variation of immersion duration. This research method is Completely Randomized Design (CRD)with two factors. The first factor, the type of leaf used (betel leaf, avocado leaf, mimosa leaf, jatropha leaf, ceiba leaf) and second factor immersion (25 minutes and 35 minutes). The results showed that the density of the colors produced by some leaf organs is not much different. The thickness of the most concentrated color is produced by the natural dye of avocado leaves. The quality of the color fastness against 40oC washing on the long immersion of the cloth for 25 minutes and 35 minutes all produce the value of good fastness (4-5).
