Abstract

Sepsis is one of the main causes of patients entering Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is the cause of mortality in ICU space. Therapy with antibiotics is one of the supporting factors for success in the treatment of sepsis. This study was aimed to evaluate the rationality of antibiotics in septic patients in accordance with the parameters of precise indication, precise drug, appropriate patient, and appropiate dose in the ICU of Dr. RSUD RSUD. Moewardi Surakarta in 2016-2017. This type of this research is observational (non-experimental) research with retrospective data collection and descriptive analysis with purposive sampling method. Inclusion criteria were inpatients in the ICU who were diagnosed with sepsis and received antibiotic therapy with or without comorbidities, not indicated by other infections, as well as complete medical record data. Data were analyzed descriptively based on guidance of Clinical Practice Guidance of SMF Disease Science in RSUD Dr. Moewardi Surakarta (PPK), 2013, IDSA (Infectious Diseases Society of America) Septic and Septic Shock, 2013, and DIH (Drug Informatio Handbook), 2009. The intended categories of septic patients include sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock. The results showed the analysis of the accuracy of antibiotic use were 46 patients, namely 46 cases (100%) appropriate indications, 46 cases (100%) appropriate patients, 13 cases (28.3%) appropriate drugs, 13 cases (28,3 %) appropriate doses and 13 cases (28.3%) have been rational accordance to the parameters.
