Abstract

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that occurs progressively with joint cartilage. Hip osteoarthritis is a disease in which the proportion of occurrence is low which may be at risk for life by 25%. Total hip replacement surgery can relieve pain and stiffness in the hip joint and has a very good effect on improving quality of life. Pain is common in patients after surgery. The purpose of this study was to determine the rationality of analgesic use in postoperative hip osteoarthritis patients at Orthopedic Hospital Prof. Dr. R. Soeharso Surakarta in 2017, in terms of the accuracy of the indication, patient, medication, and dosage. Type of non-experimental research with retrospective data retrieval from medical record data using purposive sampling method. Inclusion criteria were inpatients diagnosed with hip osteoarthritis with THR (Total Hip Replacement) and received analgesic therapy in the period of 2017 with complete medical record data. Data were analyzed directly by WHO (1996), BNF 74 (2017), Dipiro 7ed (2008), DIH (2008), and IONI (2008). The results of the analysis are right indication (100%), right patient (100%), right medication (55.56%), and right dose (44.44%). The use of rational postoperative analgesic drugs obtained by the results of ketorolac injections (11.11%), paracetamol infusion (13.89%), and novalgin injection (2.78%).
