Abstract

Abstract The background of this writing is because the Bekonang 01 Public Elementary School library is functioning properly. To increase students' interest in visiting library, the school expanded reading material that students liked such as picture books and story books. The purpose of this study was to find out (1) the management in Bekonang 01 Public Elementary School to foster students' interest in reading; (2) obstacles faced by schools in managing libraries to foster student interest in reading; and (3) school tips to overcome management obstacles to foster students' interest in reading. In this study, researchers used observation methods, interview methods, and documentation methods and used technical triangulation to find data validity. Data analysis techniques consist of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. From the research that has been done, it can be obtained the results (1) library management, making a schedule of library visits makes the library still crowded but the atmosphere and state of the library remain calm; (2) obstacles in library management, namely lack of reading material, lack of number of tables and chairs, arrangement of books that are not in accordance with the shelves, and damaged library books; (3) tips for overcoming barriers by adding reading material every year, structuring reading material according to the shelf periodically, improving facilities and reading material in the library.
