Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the types of students 'difficulties and analyze the factors that cause students' difficulties in the language of quadratic task questions. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques using, interview and documentation. The validity of the data using technical triangulation. Data analysis through reduction of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion reduction. The results of this study indicate some problems associated with students in the matter of quadratic function, the difficulty is: (1) Difficulty understanding (68%) is the inability of students in understanding the problem, whether already know the information being asked in the question; (2) the concept of difficulty of application (90.9%) ie students who have not been able to apply the basic principles of symmetry and drawing function graphs on Cartesian diagram; (3)) difficulties in calculation (14.28%), namely students cannot perform count operations correctly. Factors that cause student difficulties in quadratic questions include: (1) Students do not understand the problem given; (2) student dissatisfaction; (3) Student can not change matter into Mathematics sentence; (4) Students are poorly trained in completing questions about quadratic functions; (5) Students are not careful in counting.
