Abstract
Grayak caterpillar (Spodoptera litura) is a pest insect that attacks on crops and vegetables, one of which is a pepper plant. Losses experienced by farmers due to pest attacks can reduce the results of chili. The use of natural ingredients from plants such as papaya leaves containing papain enzymes that can interfere with eating activity, toxic contact and physiological processes of pests, while the flavonoid, saponin, and triterpenoid contents can inhibit the growth of pests causing pest larvae to die so it can be used as a natural insecticide. The purpose of this research is to know the effectiveness of papaya leaf extract and mahogany seed on grayak caterpillar on pepper plant in vitro. This research is an experimental research with quantitative descriptive data analysis using one-way variance analysis (Oneway Anova). This research consist of 4 treatment with single factor that is extract type (M), M1 = Extract of mahogany seed 20 ml, M2 = 25 ml mahogany extract, M3 = papaya leaf extract 20 ml, M4= papaya leaf extract 25 ml. The result of this research can be concluded that natural insecticide from papaya leaf extract at concentration 20 ml and 25 ml can be effective in control of grayak caterpillar.
