Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the level of students' thinking ability to solve problems of pisa on space and shape content. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research. Subjects in this study consisted of 3 students of class VIII A in SMP Negeri 3 Sawit Boyolali odd semester of academic year 2017/2018. Subjects consist of students with high math skills (S1), moderate math skills (S2), and low math skills (S3). Subjects were selected based on daily test scores and discussions with mathematics subject teachers. Data collection techniques in this study include tests, documentation, and interviews. Data analysis includes data reduction (data reduction), data presentation (data display), and conclusion / verification (drawing / verification). The validity of data is obtained through validity and triangulation. The results showed that the level of students' thinking ability is high at level 1. At level 2 and level 3 are moderate. At level 4 and level 5 is quite enough while level 6 is low. In this study students with high mathematical skills and math skills are having the ability to think is in working on the problems of PISA content space and shape. While the students of low math ability category in doing PISA questions fall into low category.
