Abstract

Indonesia as one of the producers and exporters of corn commodities in the world, sees that the liberation of world trade is an opportunity that is quite open to corn farming. On the other hand this is seen as a challenge to improve competitiveness in order to produce an increasingly competitive maize product in the international market. This study aims to analyze the effects of production, exports, consumption, and exchange rates on the competitiveness of Indonesian maize exports to the Singapore market. Analyzer used in this research is ECM. The data used are time series data from 1989-2016 obtained from BPS, Uncomtrade, Trademap, and FAOSTAT. corn production and corn consumption variables have no significant effect in the short run and long term and exchange rate variable does not have a significant effect in the long term on the competitiveness of Indonesian corn exports to Singapore. Maize and long term maize export variables have a negative effect and exchange rate variables have a positive effect in the short term on the competitiveness of Indonesian maize exports to Singapore.
