Abstract

Electricity is a source of energy needed by humans. Electric consumers cover several aspects such as industry, offices, to housing. Channeling power to the consumer through a specific stage. Substation is one of the places to distribute electrical energy from power plants to consumers. In the substation there are equipment that support its performance, one of the Circuit breaker (CB). The device functions as a breaker and reconnect the load current within a specified time period. The breaker has a measured contact resistance to know the resistance value of the contact. The value affects the power loss contained in the conductor of CB. This research was conducted to determine the effect of contact resistance value on power breaker to loss conductor power, and can know the amount of electrical energy wasted on power breaker at PT. PLN (Persero) Rayon Karanganyar line. The method used is collecting references from several journals that match the title. Data collection is done by following the rules of the agency at PT. PLN (Persero). The next step is to calculate and analyze the loss of power, the loss of electrical energy and costs incurred with the assumption of 1 month. After calculation and analysis it can be concluded that the loss of power and the shrinking of the highest electrical energy is 0.4968 kW 357.684 kWh at the circuit breaker location of bay power Gondangrejo 1, while the lowest is 0.0306 kW 22.052 kWh at the circuit breaker of bay power transformer 2. When the current and the contact resistance are large, the loss of power and the loss of electrical energy.
