Abstract

This study has two objectives. (1) Describe the use of a form of code-mixing in the novel Dilan: Dia Adalah Dilanku 1990 by Pidi Baiq. (2) Describe the function of the code-mixing in the novel Dilan: Dia Adalah Dilanku 1990 by Pidi Baiq. Type This study is a qualitative method of analysis deskripstif. The data in this study is the character dialogue and description of the story. Source of research data is taken from the novel Dilan: Dia Adalah Dilanku 1990 by Pidi Baiq. Data collection techniques used in this research is the method see and take note, because the data source is text. The validity of that used in this research is triangulation theory. Data were analyzed using flow analysis includes three components of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Based on the research found code-mixing in the novel Dilan: Dia Adalah Dilanku 1990 by Pidi Baiq is amounted to 79 data. Mix the highest code that is tangible words, there are 41 data. Mixed intangibles code phrase contained 52 data. Mixed intangibles code clause contained 13 data. Tangible baster there are 2 data. Mixed intangibles code stands there is only one data. Mixed tangible looping code word is 1 data. Function code-mixing the background of the code-mixing in the novel Dilan: Dia Adalah Dilanku 1990 by Pidi Baiq is (1) Respect the opponents said, (2) the need for vocabulary, (3) Easing convey meaning, (4) Talking about a particular topic, (5 ) Indicates identity, (6) Show Learning, (7) To clarify something, (8) Refine the speech, (9) Demonstrate familiarity. Mix function is to reinforce the dominant code something that is contained in the form of code-mixing as many as 10 data words, code-mixing in the form of dialogue word characters in the novel.
