Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of early reading ability in children group B in Aisyiyah Pabelan Karatasura by employing the method of pictorial puzzles. This study is a classroom action research (PTK) which each cycle consists of four stages of action planning, action implementation, observation or observation and reflection. Subjects in this study were students of group B age 5-6 Kartasura Academic Year of 2017/2018. The data collection methods used were observation, interviews, field notes. Based on the outcomes of Cycle I and II actions that have been implemented, showed improvement of early reading ability in group B children in Aisyiyah Pabelan Kartasura Kindergarten Year of 2017/2018. This increase is evidenced by the increase in the percentage of the ability to read the beginning of pre-action or pre cycle up to cycle II, when pre-cycle early reading ability of the child reaches 45%, the first cycle reached 63%, and the second cycle reached 84%. The conclusion of this research is that through pictorial puzzles method can improve early reading skill in group B students of Aisyiyah Pabelan Kartasura Kindergarten in the Academic Year of 2017/2018.
