Abstract

This study aims to describe 1) The role of teachers in shaping the religious character of 4th grade students of SD AL Firdaus Surakarta, 2) Obstacles of teachers in shaping the religious character of 4th grade students of SD AL Firdaus Surakarta. 3) Solutions to overcome teacher obstacles in shaping the religious character of fourth grade students of SD Al Firdaus Surakarta. Data collection techniques used are observation, interview, and documentation. Data were analyzed through data reduction steps, data presentation and data verification. Technique examination of data validity is done by technique triangulation of source and tekhnik. The type of research used is qualitative research with descriptive research design. Informants in this research are grade 4 and grade 4 students. The result of research shows that: 1) The role of teacher in shaping the character of grade 4 students are: a) Guiding, b) Managing Class, and c) Supervise. 2) Obstacles teachers in shaping the religious character of students are: control of student behavior and teacher guidance to students outside school. 3) Solution to overcome the obstacles of teachers in shaping the 4th class religious character that is: maximizing teacher supervision on the behavior of students, teachers and parents cooperate, communicate with each other so that what children do in the formation of religious character in school is also done when the child at home and vice vers Keywords: teacher role, character education, religious
