ABSTRACT Isobutylene is widely used in chemical industry as raw material of alkylate gasoline, gasoline polymer, straight fuel use, MTBE, butyl rubber, polybutene, isoprene and other chemicals. To fulfill domestic needs that still have to be imported and there are still open export opportunities, it is designed isobutylene factory with capacity 40.000 ton / year which operates for 330 days / year. Making isobutylene through 3 stages of raw material preparation stage, the stage of product formation, and the stage of product purification. The isobutylene formation of tent-butyl alcohol (TBA) takes place with an endothermic reaction and is carried out with a stirred, aqueous, irreversible tank flow reactor with styrene-divinylbenzene (DVB) catalyst, the reaction takes place at a temperature of 141.84 ° C. and a pressure of 12, 83 atm. As much as 73% mol / hour tent-butyl alcohol was converted to isobutylene. This 40,000 ton / year isobutylene plant requires 7.602,8969 kg / hr of TBA raw material and 22,917 kg kg of DVB catalysts per 4 years. The prows support utility includes water supply of 2,743,1743 kg / hr obtained from PT. Krakatau Tirta Industri (KTI), the supply of saturated steam of 6,301,7222 kg / hour of money obtained from boilers with diesel fuel of 445.4057 liters / hour, the compressed air requirement of 57.3782 m3 / hour, the electricity demand is obtained from PLN and one generator of 320 kW as reserve and fuel of 479,1880 liters / hour. This plant is planned to be established in the industrial area of ​​Cilegon, Banten with the number of employees 156 people. From the economic analysis, this isobutylene plant requires a fixed capital of Rp.870.559.753.328,06 profit before tax of Rp. 143,474,505,575,06 per year. Profit after tax of Rp. 100,432,153,902,54 per year. This feasibility analysis gives results that the return on investment (ROI) before taxes is 62.97%; after tax of 44.08%; pay out time (POT) before tax of 1.37 years; after tax of 1.85 years; break event point (BEP) 4 1.00%; shut down point (SDP) 28,81% and discounted cash flow (DCF) 30,48%.
