Abstract

the research was conducted to develop the surface hardness of titanium by nickel electroplating method. it is hopes that this method will be more effective in term of cost and production process. the purpose of the research is into to find out the surface hardness of titanium after electroplating nickel. in this research, the method use testing process is coating thickness, roughness test, and surface hardness test. the basic material used titanium plate with thickness 3 mm and coating material is nickel with electroplating method with variation of spraying time 20 minutes, 40 minutes, 60 minutes, 80 minutes at 2,8 volt.base on the research has been done, the authors have obtained the test result. the nickel electroplating process at the variation of dyeing time at 2,8 volt was found that the highest coating thickness level of 36,34 µm, the lowest roughness level occurred at 80 minutes dyeing that was 0,211 µm, highest surface hardness of 571,42 HV, compare to the material before electroplating was 173,88 HV.
