Abstract

The family has a very important role to health status, with chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus. The level of knowledge is also very important to the patient's recovery. Family support and level of knowledge can have a positive impact on treatment management compliance in DM patients. This study aims to have a relationship between family support and knowledge level with the quality of life of diabetes mellitus type 2 in the area of puskesmas Boyolali. This research is a quantitative descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. The population of this research is diabetes mellitus patient at Puskesmas Nogosari Boyolali 693 people. Research sample counted 41 people determined using random sampling technique. The data were collected using questionnaires, while data analysis used chi square test. The result of research relation of family support with quality of life of patient obtained (p-value = 0,008) so that H0 rejected and relation of knowledge with quality of life of patient obtained (p-value = 0,017) so H0 rejected. The conclusion of the study is the relationship between family support and knowledge with quality of life in patients with diabetes mellitus at Puskesmas Nogosari Boyolali, the higher the support of family and patient knowledge, the quality of life is increasing.
