Abstract

This research regarding improving early reading skill aimed at finding out the reading development for beginner through picture card games in early childhood. The research method used classroom action research by observation and interview. Researcher made direct observations and then performed it. Before doing the research, the researcher conducted pre-cycle research followed with cycle I, cycle II and cycle III. The research was conducted for 2 weeks with an additional one week for observation to determine the results of pre-cycle. The result of study showed that theavarage reading of the beginning of the child before treathment action 43%. After the learning action with picture card game in cycle I reading the child’s beginning increases to 65% in cycle II reading the child’s beginning to 75% in cycle III increases to 90%. So this research can be concluded successfully because it reached more than 90% and the children there have betterlanguage development. It can be seen that the children were excited in the initial reading activity through picture card game. From the results of study proved that the initial reading activity through picture card games can improve the ability to read the beginning of children in group A.
