Abstract

The aim of this study are (1) to find out the level of youth education, (2) to find out parents motivation who gives education to children by sending them to college, (3) to find out the factors which influence parents motivation on sending them to college in Brangkal Village, Karanganom Sub District, Klaten Regency. The type is qualitative research. The design is ethnography. The subject is parents who send the children to college. The object is located in Brangkal Village, Karanganom Sub District, Klaten Regency. The result of this study is the education level of youth from Brangkal Village, Karanganom Sub District, Klaten Regency is majority on senior high school level. There are five reasons why parents send their children to college such as to get better education, to elevate the honor of their parents, to get the proper jobs, to form the character and to postpone the marriage life. The factors that influence the motivation of parents to send their children to college is most influenced by the desire of their child, meanwhile other factors are including financial adequancy, parental education background, the desire of child, family environment and the residence.
