Abstract

The major problem of this study is how the major character seeks for honor and its consequence namely anxiety because of unhandled problem he encounters. The aim of this study is to identify the relationship between the way he seeks for honor and anxiety as the consequence by means of structural and psychoanalytic analysis. The object of this study is Wolfgang Petersen’s Troy and focused on the major character namely Achilles. The benefit of this study is to enrich the body of the research on Troy, to give contribution of the development of literary studies, and to fulfill the requirement for getting Bachelor Degree in English Department. The study uses library data. The primary data are taken from the film its self, while the secondary data are taken from books and other resources. The method of data collection is description and this study employs Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis to answer the problem. The outcome of this study shows the researcher that the major character’s problem is because of the conflict of his mental condition that leads him to do some wrong ways that cause anxiety as the consequence. Thus the researcher can conclude that human beings always obey every norm, morality; and social values in seeking for achievement, of course they will be able to enjoy the success they got. But if they broke the law, they would suffer and find no happiness or peace in their life
