Abstract

So far, education in Indonesia has experienced progress, however the progress of education in Indonesia is inseparable from a setback that needs to be addressed, which is the outcome of studying mathematics. There are several factors which affect the outcome of studying mathematics. Some of the factors are based of the students, which is students' independency; based on the tools, which is learning facilities; and based on the teachers, which is teachers' creativity during teaching. The objectives of this study are : 1) to test the students' independency as a contributing factor to the outcome of studying mathematics, 2) to test the facilities for studying mathematics as a contributing factor to the outcome of studying mathematics, 3) to test the teachers' creativity during teaching as a contributing factor to the outcome of studying mathematics, 4) to test the students' independency, the facilities for studying mathematics, and the teachers' creativity during teaching altogether as contributing factors to the outcome of studying mathematics. The type of this research is based on quantitative approach. The population of the study is composed of 152 8th grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Gatak. The samples of the research are taken from 110 students determined by Slovin's formula. Proportional random sampling is used as the technique of sampling. Questionnaires and documentations are used as the techniques of collecting the data. Multiple linear regression is used as the technique of analyzing the data. The results of the study are : 1) the students' independency contributed both positively and significantly to the outcome of studying mathematics with (α =5%) equals to 9.94%; 2) the studying facilities also contributed both positively and significantly to the outcome of studying mathematics with (α =5%) equals to 5.13%; 3) the teachers' creativity contributed positively and significantly to the outcome of studying mathematics with (α =5%) equals to 15.07%; 4) the students' independency, the studying facilities, and the teachers' creativity altogether contributed positively and significantly to the outcome of studying mathematics with (α =5%) equals to 30.14%.
