Abstract

Friction Stir Welding is one type of solid state welding welding (SSW) where welding Friction Stir Welding utilizes friction between tool and material to be connected. Friction Stir Welding is now widely used in industries in developed countries because of the FSW welding results in a slight deformation and is able to weld difficult materials in fusion welding. This study aims to determine the tensile strength, surface hardness and the ratio of the steel / iron connection with aluminum. Welding research was done by stex iron method with alumunium. In welding process using conventional milling machine with rotational 800 rpm parameter, feed rate 12,5mm / minute tilt angle 10dandept plunge 1,8 mm. From result of Pull test obtained the average tensile stress for Friction Stir Welding Double Track on the connection between iron with aluminum 800 rpm is 122.2 MPa and the average strain 1.85%, while at 1250 rpm the average tarin voltage is 123.81 rpm and strain average 1.60%. While the results of hardness testing on the zone Stir Zone area 800 rpm shows the value 169.3 HVN harder than the HAZ area with a value of 40.2 HVN compared with testing in the zone zone 1250 rpm lower by showing the value of 44.3 HVN harder than HAZ 42.1 HVN.
