Abstract

Hyperlipidemia is a condition of the body when blood lipid levels rise beyond the normal limit. Avocado seed is one part of the plant that can be used to lower levels of fat in the blood. The purpose of this study was to measure the decrease of cholesterol and triglyceride levels by giving Avocado seed extract for 14 days with 3 different doses. This study used 12 male wistar strain rats which were divided into 3 dose groups namely, 62,5, 125, 250 mg / kgBW. Each group was given high-fat feed induction for 55 days and then given the treatment of extract for 14 days with fixed given high fat diet. The reading of cholesterol and triglyceride levels using cholesterol (Dsi) and triglyceride (Dsi) reagents at λ 500 nm. High fat feed induction in the dose group 62,5 mg / kgBW, 125 mg / kgBW, 250 mg / kgBW resulted in an increase in cholesterol levels by an average of 151 mg / dL, 136.5 mg / dL, 136 mg / dL whereas for triglyceride parameters showed an increase of 202.75 mg / dL, 185.75 mg / dL, 142 mg / dL. Treatment of extracts at doses of 62.5 mg / kgBW, 125 mg / kgBW, 250 mg / kgBW for 14 days can decrease cholesterol and triglyceride levels to 126.5 mg / dL and 130.5 mg / dL (62.5mg / kgBW) , 111.5 mg / dL and 115.3 mg / dL (125mg / kgBW), 95.75 mg / dL and 88.2 mg / dL (250 mg / kgBW).
