Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus showed that a disease caused by the presence of chronic disorders especially the metabolic system of carbohydrates, fats, and protein in the body. This problem makes anxiety for DM patients and people without DM though. The ignorance of DM patients and their family member on how to prevent and treat of DM get the result that increasing of DM. Therefore, the objective of this research is to scrutinize the correlation between family support and diet compliance of Diabetes Mellitus patients in Ngrampal district at working area of PUSKESMAS Ngrampal Sragen. This research applied with a descriptive correlational method. The populations in this research are a family member of DM patients and all of DM patients in Ngrampal district as many as 128 people. As the sample in this research is 90 people with the technical sampling is total sampling. Independent variable in this research is family support of DM patients in Ngrampal district at working area PUSKESMAS Ngrampal Sragen. The dependent variable in this research is diet compliance of Diabetes Mellitus patients in Ngrampal district at working area of PUSKESMAS Ngrampal Sragen. The findings showed that the level of family support to DM patients is 48,9% in the good category. The compliance of DM patients in DM diet process is 88,9%. So, there is a correlation between family support and diet compliance of Diabetes Mellitus patients in Ngrampal district at working area of PUSKESMAS Ngrampal Sragen (p=0.008). This value is smaller than α value of 0,05. That is H0 is rejected. There is showed that statistically has significant correlation between family support and diet compliance of Diabetes Mellitus patients in Ngrampal district at working area of PUSKESMAS Ngrampal Sragen.
