Abstract

This study examines social morality in the novel Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 (AAC 2) by Habiburrahman El Shirazy and Al-Qur’an and Hadith which is analyzed with intertextuality approach and its relevance as a literary material of 12th grade of senior high school. This study aims to achieve the results of the description of three things: (1) the structure of AAC 2 novels, (2) the intertextuality of AAC 2 and Al-Qur’an and Hadiths about morality, and (3) the relevance of the AAC 2 novel as a 12th grade literary material of senior high school. The method used in this research is qualitative or descriptive. Technique of collecting data in this research is read, refer to, and record. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. The technique of data validity uses triangulation theory. Data analysis techniques use semiotic readings. Based on the result of research, it is concluded as follows. (1) The novel structure of AAC 2 consists of facts of stories and themes that have a close relationship that forms the integrity of the novel AAC 2. The groove becomes a means of understanding the life of Fahri as the main character and its relationship with other figures. The life of the Fahri figure in question is life in the United Kingdom after the bomb exploded in the City of London (July 7, 2005) with a misperception of the public's perception of Muslim behavior. The life of the Fahri character and his relationship with other figures has shown the theme of the AAC 2 novel, the Muslim morality in society as a form of love to Allah Subḥânahu wa Ta'âlâ and Rasulullah shallallâhu 'alaihi wa sallam. (2) The intertextuality of AAC 2 and Al-Qur’an and Hadiths about social morals shows that the text of AAC 2’s novel hypogram Al-Qur’an surah Al-Qalam (68): 4 and Hadith “Piety and Noble Virtue” narrated by at-Tirmidhi. As a transformation text, AAC 2 novel depicts Fahri's character as having noble character in social life. The prominent societal character of the Fahri figure is six, controlling oneself when angry, mobilizing help, forgiving, showing joy, connecting the ropes, and doing good to the neighbors. (3) The relevance of the novel AAC 2 as a literary material of 12th grade of senior high school related to Basic Competence 3.9 in Curriculum 2013. Basic Competence contains Indicator of Competency Achievement 3.9.1 about finding novel intrinsic and extrinsic content. Based on aspects of language, psychology, and cultural background; novel AAC 2 can be used as teaching material of literary material in learning Indonesian 12th grade of senior high school.
