Abstract

Electrical power transmission system serves as a distributor of electrical energy from the plant to the consumer. His long-distance journey has various risks of loss and disruption. A protection system is needed in terms of handling interference. One important component is a distance relay that serves as a protection of power transmission lines. Distance relays will measure the impedance value of the disturbance which will then be compared with the value of the relay setting, next the relay will give the commands according to the comparison results. The distance relay working area is divided into teritory 1, teritory 2 and z teritory 3 with their own setting values. Setting the value of the setting becomes important for the reliability of the transmission system so as to reduce losses. This research applied to transmission system of 150 kV substation Gondangrejo-Jajar started by conducting literature study, finding the data of conductor cable, transformer parameters and setting distance relation value. The data is then processed and calculated and analyzed the results. Based on the available data, Initial settlement for teritory 1 = 1Ω, teritory 2 = 1.91 Ω and teritory 3 = 1.8 Ω. The difference shows several factors such as conditions, including impedance faults and human error. The use of Gondangrejo-Jajar distance relay can still be done in safe condition because it does not show significant value difference.
