Global warming (global warming) is an international issue. One of the causes is the increase in carbon dioxide gas (CO2) in the atmosphere of the earth due to the use of fossil fuels which increases significantly high. Therefore, it is necessary to find other alternative energy sources to reduce the use of fossil fuels, such as bioetanol. One of the raw materials for the production of bioetanol is coconut fibers containing high lignoselulose and the abundant availability in Indonesia. The production of bioethanol from coconut fibers was conducted by the methods of delignification, hydrolysis, and fermentation. The coconut fibers were dried and then delignificated using 2.5% NaOH solution at a temperature of 100°C for 2 hours. After the process of delignification, the samples were hydrolized with a solution of H2SO4 and the was set pH to be 2.3 then were fermented with the addition of yeast bread with variations (1.5, 4.5 and 6 g). The fermentation was carried out in an anaerobic fermentation with time variations of 3, 4, and 5 days. The purity of the obtained ethanol was tested using refractometer. The highest purity of ethanol produced in the fermentation process was 5 days with 1.5 grams of yeast concentration with purity of 13.76%.
