Abstract

This study aims to analyze the understanding of the concepts of Pythagorean theorem and the inhibiting factors of the concepts of Pythagoras theorem concepts in students with high mathematical abilities in terms of gender differences. The type of this research is qualitative descriptive research. Research subjects were four students of class VIII C SMP Negeri 2 Kartasura. Techniques of collecting data in the form of tests, interviews, documentation. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results showed that on the subject of male indicator re-proclaimed a concept of some subjects have met the indicator. In the indicator presents the concept in various forms of mathematical representation the entire subject has fulfilled. For indicators to use, utilize and select certain procedures or operations partially meet the indicators. whereas for the indicator concludes only one subject on the third question does not meet. In the female subject the indicator reiterates a concept that all subjects have met the indicator. In the indicator presents the concept in various forms of mathematical representation only one subject in question number three does not meet. For indicators to use, utilize and select a particular procedure or operation partially meets the indicator, only a matter of number one does not meet. As for the indicator infer that some have met the indicator, only the number one problem that does not meet.
