Abstract

Briquette charcoal is solid fuel containing carbon, having a high heat value, and can be burned on for a long time. This research was intended to utilize the waste of sawdust wood mixed with an adhesive of lamtoro leaves. The manufacture of briquette was started by the process of making a charcoal or called the pyrolysis process at high temperatures during 2 hours. Then, the briquettes were mixed with an adhesive of lamtoro leaves, and were tested for caloric value. The mass ratios of adhesive (lamtoro leaves) and charcoal sawdust wood were 10:90, 20:80, 30:70, 40:60, 50:50. The results showed that the highier content of adhesive was, the lower the caloric value was. The highest caloric value of briquette was obtained by the mass ratio of 10:90, as mush as 5058,505 cal/g.
