Abstract

Waterfront city is the pattern of development of the area around the water includingthe coast, the river and the area is on the border between land and sea. Waterfront city began to be developed into a pattern of arrangement of a city that has a lot of land and waters boundary area to develop the potential of the region's suburban saneliminates the impression of a poor suburban areas or coastal waters. The area of the waterfront could become part of the city the potential to be a livable area and meeting place for its citizens. The design of city waterfront that is used as a public space can enhance tourism potential in the area. Pekanbaru with the flow of the river impassable territory siak potentially high in the design of waterfront city that blends with the public space also aims to 1) increase the tourism potential in the siak soweto; 2) sets the region of the river so as not to be a densely populated slum inhabitants; 3) increases the area of open green space in the city of pekanbaru.
