Abstract

Self dislosure has an important role in building interpersonal relationships, especially in family relationships. Self-openness can be in the form of information about appropriate behaviors, attitudes, feelings, desires, motivations and ideas, and within the person concerned. Self-openness by a prostitute can lead to closer relationships with their families, especially when prostitutes share their job workers as a prostitute. A woman who sells sexual services is referred to as a prostitute and is now better known as a commercial sex worker (CSW). This study aimed to see the extent of communication openness between CSWs with families in an effort to communicate the work as a prostitute and see how the depth of the openness of CSWs with their family. The type of research used was qualitative research using descriptive approach. Sampling was done by purposive sampling method by taking sample of 6 informants from different background and area. Data collection techniques used were through in-depth interviews to the CSWs who still have family either father, mother, husband, brother, sister, and other families. The informants’ ages were between 20 years to 40 years and researchers took a sample of 6 people who enter the criteria. The results of research related to interpersonal communication, CSWs had different interpersonal needs with their families, including the need for inclusion, control, and compassion. While related to self-openness, the results found that each informant had a different level of depth of self- openness, including clichés, facts, opinions, and feelings.
