Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation as well as various constraints and alternative solutions of norms of politeness to the behavior of newcomer students in the village of Gonilan Kecamatan Kartasura Sukoharjo District. This research uses qualitative approach. collection of observation data, interviews and documentation. The validity of data using source triangulation and technique. Data analysis applies flow model through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results show that the implementation of norms of politeness in the behavior of immigrant students in Gonilan Village, Kartasura District, Sukoharjo Regency in 2017 is strongly influenced by wisdom, appreciation, generosity, humility, compatibility, and sympathy in their behavior. Constraints of the implementation of norms of politeness in the behavior of newcomer students in Gonilan Village, Kartasura District, Sukoharjo Regency in 2017 is the difference in the behavior of politeness among regions, regional languages, the delivery of speech in interaction and motivation. The alternative solution overcomes the obstacles of impersonal norms implementation on the behavior of newcomer students in Gonilan Village, Kartasura Subdistrict, Sukoharjo District, which increases self-understanding of the norm of politeness that every region is different and the need for respect and tolerance, learns appropriate style of speech and in accordance with the prevailing politeness, and guidance from people around in learning the proper manners prevailing in the local environment.
