Abstract

Background : In late adolescence, the age range 19-22 years, is a stage of transition from adolescence to adulthood. The problem arises, in fact, the final teenagers still have not satisfied with the state of his body. Compared with men, women are more concerned with their body shape, showing dissatisfaction with their physical appearance, one of them is weight problems. Weight is known to have a relationship with fat. women have thinner muscles but thicker fats. Subcutaneous fat thickness is a musculoskeletal problem. Subcutaneous fat is in the fascia which is one of the factors in achieving full ROM value. Fascia is too thick, will inhibit the achievement of the maximum ROM value. The result purpose: To determine whether or not the relationship between thick subcutaneous fat with the range of motion (ROM) in adolescents aged 19-22 years. Research method: This study included an observational study, which was a study with the measurement of its variables performed only once at a time. The data obtained will be tested for normality with Kolmogrov-Smirnov to know the data is normal or abnormal distribution. If p> 0,05 data is normally distributed, followed by pearson product moment correlation test. If p<0,05 data is not normally distributed, followed by rank spearman correlation test. The output will show the value of r (pearson correlation), the value of r which is closer to the value of 1, the stronger the relation. The results : The output of the pearson correlation and rank sperman shows there is a negative relationship between subcutaneous bursts with range of motion (ROM). Conclussion : There is a negative relationship between the thickness of subcutaneous fat with range of motion ROM for the endorotation of shoulder, eksorotation of shoulder, flexion of elbow, flexion of lumbal, and extention of lumbal, with the strength is moderate, because all r correlation results are in range 0.25-0.5
