Abstract

This study aimed to describe the decision making on a mathematics problem based on domain content TIMSS for eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Pringsurat. The number of subject is 32, further based on results of tests carried out are categorized into two categories, high-ability students (S1) and low-ability students (S2). Data collection technique used are test method, think aloud, field notes, and interview. Data validation was done by using triangulation techniques and resources. Triangulation techniques by comparing the test data, think aloud, field notes, and interview while on a triangulation of sources that teachers and researchers themselves with the data obtained from the results of the first test execution by students. Technique of analizing is conducted of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. S1 can take decisions on all domains which places the content domain of numbers, domain contents of algebra, contents domain of geometry, and domain content of data and opportunities. Whereas S2 can only take the right decision on the domain content of data and chance.
