Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine: (1) The differences influence of strategy (problem based learning and discovery learning) on mathematics learning outcomes, (2) The differences influence of student’s motivation on mathematics learning outcomes, (3) The interaction between strategy (problem based learning and discovery learning) with student’s motivation on mathematic learning outcomes. This type of research based on it’s approach is classified into quantitative research. This research used quasi-experimental design. The research was conducted in Mts N Gondangrejo. The population in this research consisted of some students of the second level (class VIII) amounted to 114 students that divided into 3 classes. The sample of this research are consisted of two classes, the first class applied problem based learning strategy and the second class applied discovery learning strategy. The sampling technique of this research used cluster random sampling. The data collection technique was conducted using documentation, test, and questionnaire. The data analysis technique was conducted using analysis of two-lane variation with unequal cells. Based on the result of data analysis with 5% signification standard and discussion, obtained the conclusions, (1) There was significant differences influence of learning strategy (problem based learning and discovery learning) on the mathematics learning outcomes, (2) There was significant differences influence of student’s motivation on the mathematics learning outcomes, (3) There was no interaction between learning strategy (problem based learning and discovery learning) and student’s motivation on learning mathematics outcomes.
