Abstract

This study uses an Individual psychology approach From Alfred Adler, elaborates the struggle for life of Erica Bain in Neil Jordan’s The Brave one movie. This study belongs to qualitative study. In the method, there are two types of data sources used by the writer, namely primary data source and secondary data source. Primary data source is The Brave One movie by Neil Jordan itself; meanwhile secondary data is taken from some books and references that supporting the data. The writer collects the data from both, primary and secondary data sources in a sort of document as evidence. The study uses library research to collect the data. In analyzing of data, the writer applies two approaches. Firstly, structural approach is used to analyze the structural elements of the movie. It consists of character and characterization, plot, setting, point of view, theme and casting. Secondly, the individual psychological approach is used to analyze the struggle for life of Erica Bain. The writer finds that the character of Erica Bain has her own way protect her self. In this film, Erica Bain as a major character has a behavior for realizing her weakness which reinforces her psychological development.
