Abstract

One of the properties of clay is having a low carrying capacity. Efforts to increase the carrying capacity of clay soil by using reinforcement of sand-lime mixed column. The lime sand mixed column serves as a reinforcement on the footprint of the square foot. The study was conducted with six laboratory tests, two non-reinforced testing columns and four tests using a sandlime mixed column. This study aims to determine the maximum load and decrease of the footprint of the palm square without reinforcing the column and using a lime-sand mixed column. In this study using a square footprint of 10x10 cm and 15x15 cm, under the foundation there is a column of lime sand mixture with diameter of 10 cm and 15 cm. The use of moisture content and the method of compaction is carried out in the same manner and portion. Based on the results of the test it can be concluded that increasing the diameter of the column results in decreasing value of the smaller and greater carrying capacity while increasing the size of the foot of the foundation results in greater soil bearing capacity and a smaller decrease than increasing the size of the column.
