Abstract

ABSTRACT Nita Puji Lestari/A4100140220. DESCRIPTION OF STUDENT'S METACOGNITION IN SOLVING MATHEMATICAL TASKS BASED ON SPACE AND SHAPE PISA CONTENT’S AT SMP NEGERI 3 BOYOLALI. Thesis, Faculty of Education, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta. January, 2018. The study aimed to describe student’s metacognition in solving PISA-based math problem on space and shape content. The metacognition includes metacognitive knowledge and experience. A study is a qualitative descriptive. Subject are 3 students of class VIII-C at SMP N 3 Boyolali 2017/2018 academic year. It consissted of students with high math abilities (S1), students with average math abilities (S2), and students with low math abilities (S3). Subject chosen by test result. Data collection technique includes test, video recording, field notes, and interview. Data were analized by data reduction, data display, and conclution drawing or verification. Validation and triangulation are used to obtain data validity. The result showed that student with high math abilities had the best metacognition. Student with high math abilities meet the most metacognition indicators, namely 5 sub-indicators of metacognitive knowledge and 6 sub-indicators of metacognitive experience. Student with average math abilities meet 4 sub-indicators of metacognitive knowledge and 2 sub-indicators of metacognitive experience. While student with low math abilities meet 3 sub-indicators of metacognitive knowledge and 1 sub-indicators of metacognitive experience.
