Abstract

The transmission line is a part of the power distribution system from power plants to consumers as well as between power systems. Protection on the transmission line is very important because to maintain reliability in distributing electric power, therefore in each substation has a variety of protection systems. The distance in the transmission line is sometimes a problem because of frequent interruptions and to find the point where the disturbance sometimes takes a long time. Distance relay is one of the protection system on transmission line system in substation. The distance relay works by reading the impedance on the secured transmission line and comparing it with the relay settings. The working area of distance releases is divided into three zones there is zone one, zone two, and zone three. The use of distance relay as one of protection system is expected to maintain reliability in distributing electric power. The purpose of this research is to know the value of distance relay setting on Wonosari 150 kV Substation. The method used by the writer is studying existing literature study, collecting data on Wonosari substation, analyzing existing data and perform setting relation calculation. The results of this research calculation on zone one in get setting value 0.26 Ω and time to active 0 second, zone two 0.81 Ω with active time 0.4 second and zone three 1.2 Ω with active time 1.2 second.
