Abstract

Mental health is a condition of the well-being of which the individual realizes, in which there is the ability to manage the natural stress of life, to be able to work productively and produce, and play a role in the community Mental health disorders such as mild anxiety and depression suffered many women, that is twice as much compared to men. This study aims to determine the differences in mental health in men and women with diabetes mellitus. The subjects of this study were 25 patients with diabetes mellitus. Method of taking data used in this study is the type of Purposive Sampling. The method used in this research is a quantitative method with measuring instruments such as HSCL scale (Hopskins Symptom Checklist). Data analysis technique used in this research is Independent Sample T-test which calculated using SPSS 16 for windows. Based on the results of data analysis obtained sig. (p) of 0.000 (p <0.05) means there is a difference in mental health between men and women with diabetes mellitus. The result of mental health in women is higher that is 67,93 while in men equal to 52,64.
