Abstract

Along with the increasingly rapid development of technology and information, gambling activities also experience a shift to an online gambling that more practical and safer to do. Gambling cases in Su rakarta region began to bloom again since 2016. In early May of 2016, Cops of Laweyan Surakarta in Criminal Unit raided 6 online gamblers in a boarding house. To the suspects be done further investigation and subject to Article 303 of the Criminal Code on gambling with threat of punishment max 10 years in prison. The purpose of this study is to explain the role of the police in tackling the online gambling crime in Laweyan Surakarta and to describe the inhibiting factors in the prevention of online togel ga mbling crime in Laweyan Surakarta. In this study the authors use empirical legal approach that is the research used to solve problems by conducting primary data research in the field. Type of research used by the author in this research is descriptive rese arch. From the results of this research and discussion, it was found that in the case on online gambling in case, the Police has not applied Information, Technology, and Electronis Law and only apply the Criminal Code, it means that the defendant is only i ndicted by the Criminal Code and has not applied the rules specially applied in handling the case of online gambling.
