Abstract

the rapid development of technology in today's era gives a big impact in sector of construction, specially geotechnical engineering. To solve the problem of geotechnical engineering, one of which can be done with the help of electronic calculation or computing method that is computer application program plaxis. The purpose of this research is to know how the use of plaxis program to analyze the control of slope stability in Piyungan, Yogyakarta. After the analysis and the results showed the safety number are less than required (<1,5), then alternate solution is required. The solution with sheet pile design as alternate required. The calculation method that used to find the safety number are two methods, there are manual calculation method by using fellenius method, and calculation using computer with plaxis program. The soil parameters are used to manual calculation and plaxis is : soil density (γ) 15.186 kN/m3; specific gravity (GS) 2.66; cohesion (c) 15.985 kN/m2; the angle of friction (φ) 30, 44o; moisture content average 44,82%, poison’s ratio 0,300, the condition of the soil layer in the field is of clayey sand with the height of the slope or the retained ground 15.2 m. before alternative required the results obtained manual method or fellenius 1.0487 <1.5 (unsafe), for plaxis program 1.0182 <1.5 (unsafe). After the required with sheet pile design, the calculation of safety number manual method or fellenius 1,6614 > 1,5 (safe), for plaxis program 1,655 > 1,5 (safe). Therefore sheet pile design increased the safety number of slope stability.
