Abstract

Indication of the success of improving the quality of human resources in the field of education is that students have a Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) is good. HOTS mastery can improve students' thinking ability in understanding the concept of Structure of Group Algebra. This study aims to determine the ability of high-level thinking that students have to solve the problem of Structure of Group Algebra. The focus of this study describes how the thinking process that students have based on the HOTS indicator. This research is a descriptive qualitative research using test and interview as data collection method. The result of the research shows that the students' thinking ability in solving the problem in the analysis phase is 74,03%, the evaluation phase is 49,73%, and at the creating stage is 44,72%. As many as 12 students have high HOTS, 18 students have moderate HOTS, and 6 students have low HOTS. The results show that students have mastery of HOTS aspects in solving the problem of Structure of Group Algebra.
