Abstract

The change of female college students’ lifestyle leads to consumer behavior that is influenced by advertisements. Advertisement is a tool of communication on products delivered through various media so that people are interested to agree and follow. Consumptive behavior on female college students is in the form of buying behavior to show their social status and prestige. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of imported product advertisement on female college students’ consumptive behavior. The subject of this research is 50 students of Psychology Faculty of Muhammadiyah Surakarta University from 2013 until 2017 classes who are 18 to 21 years old. The research method used is One Group Pretest-Posttest Design experimental method. The result of this study shows that the hypothesis received is shown from the results of Mann-Whitney Test NonParametric analysis technique with a value of Z equal to -6.854 with significance level (p) = 0,000 which means there is a very significant influence of imported product advertisements on the female students' consumptive behavior which the imported product ads can decrease the students' consumptive behavior.
