Abstract

The need for wood as a building material or as a construction material always increases from year to year, whereas the ability to supply wood volume is increasingly depleted with the development of land clearing for various purposes in the field of agriculture or plantation. One solution of a problem about the depletion of wood supplies is by way of wood lamination method. Many lamination methods of weak wood grinding or wood shape changes by arranging wood with adhesive. This research is intended to find out how strong the bending of teak wood and mahogany with profile form I. The method that is done is experiment with bending strength test using UTM (universal test mechine). While the test materials made are 4 types of mahogany and teak wood and laminated wood profiles I with teak and mahogany. After testing, it was obtained that is bending strength test for mahogany whole wood for 0,056 KN / mm xviii 2 and for teak wood equal to 0,084 KN / mm 2 . As for laminate wood shaped profile I with wing support obtained for mahogany of 0.0193 KN / mm2 and for teak wood of 0.0272 KN / mm2. So as to obtain the difference of decrease between bending strength of intact wood and profile I for teak wood 79,39% and Mahoni wood equal to 78,36%
