Abstract

Utagram utilization as a medium of tourism communication is a way that feels quite efficient compared with other conventional communication media. This is because Instagram is a social networking media that has features that support to conduct tourism communication activities. This study aims to describe the use of Instagram by @explorekabkaranganyar account in communicating tourism in Karanganyar District. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative. Methods of data collection using interviews and document analysis. Sampling in this study using purposive sampling. Data validity using triangulation method and source triangulation. Analysis in this research use interactive analysis. The results of this research are: 1) Instagram utilization as a media of tourism communication on @explorekabkaranganyar account run well and smoothly through five stages of communicator, message, channel, communicant, feedback 2) Tourism communication in Karanganyar regency conducted through Instagram media, Karanganyar become better known to the public. 3) The reason for using Instagram in communicating the tourism district Karanganyar because Instagram is a social media media based on photos and video, and has a supporting feature to be used as a medium of communication tourism district Karangnyar. 4) Instagram features are Sharing, Hashtag, Repost, Worldcam, Searchstagram, Findergram, Geolocation, and Instastory. 5) Based on the types of features in the account, then type instagram feature that is often used is to be photo-sharing feature, the hashtag and repost the photo.
