Abstract

Vocational maturity plays an important role for vocational students, because the vocational school students are printed to be ready to work in accordance with the field of expertise after graduating from school. Vocational maturity is one of the developmental tasks of adolescects. If the vocational maturity is not achieved according to the stage of development then the adolescent will experience obstacles in passing the stage of its development. Vocational maturity can be influenced by self-concept. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of self-concept with vocational maturity in vocational students. Subjects in this study were students of SMK Negeri 4 Surakarta, amounting to 148 students. The sampling technique used is study population technique. The measuring tool used is the scale of vocational maturity and self-concept. The method of analysis used is Product Moment The results obtained r = 0.491 p = 0.000, which shows a very significant positive relationship between self-concept with vocational maturity. The higher the self-concept of the students the higher the maturity of vocational. The level of self-concept in this research is high and the level of vocational maturity is high. The effective contribution of self concept variable to vocational maturity is 24.11% and there are 75.89% other factors influencing vocational maturity. The result of this research has implied the importance of self concept toward vocational maturity. Keywords: self concept, vocational maturity, vocational students.
