Abstract

Background: Children aged 4-5 years including into preschool age who is usually referred to as the golden period (golden age) due to the process of growing up very rapidly. At this time we can monitor the growth and development of the child itself, for the growth process our children can see from the increase in body size of a person. Increasing the size of a person's body can be a reference to determine his nutritional status. Nutrition status (nutritional status) is a condition derived from the balance between nutritional intake of food and nutrient needs by the body. Someone will have a good nutritional status if the nutritional intake in accordance with the needs of the body. While the motor development of children at this age, the child has the ability to move the body with physical activities are coordinated well and the improvement of skills and thought processes. This process can be categorized as a child's motor development. In this study the authors take a gross motor development in the form of child balance. Balance is the body's ability to maintain Body Mass Center (BMC) and Center of Gravity (COG) against Base of Support (BOS) or BOS changes during rest and during activity. Objective: In this study, the authors chose to determine whether there is a relationship between the development of the child, the views of the nutritional status and gross motor skills in the form of balance. Research method: This research use observation method, the population of 45 children and the sample fulfilling the inclusion criteria were 32 children. Age data collection, body weight is used to determine the child's nutritional status, balance measurement using stork stand test for static balance and balance beam walking test for dynamic balance. Result of research: Based on the result of statistical test, the result of crossing between nutritional status with balance p> 0,05, where p> 0,05 means Ho accepted that there is no significant correlation between nutrient status with balance in children aged 4-5years. Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between nutritional status and balance in children aged 4-5 years.
