Abstract

This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which aims to understand the implementation process of studying Social Science (IPS) by using simulation method and its influence toward student’s interest in studying and the result of studying IPS in 4th grade at SDN 03 Kalisoro 2016/2017 school year. Subject in this research were a teacher and 24 students of 4th grade at SDN 03 Kalisoro. The method for collecting data consisted of observation, interview, test, and documentation. The derived data was analysed using data reduction, triangulation, data presentation, and drawing conclusion. Also, the descriptive qualitative data was analysed by collecting the data of the improvement of student’s interest in studying IPS from cycle I to cycle II. Based on the result of this research, it showed that there was an improvement of student’s interest in studying IPS during the studying process. In pre-cycle, there were nine students or 37,5% with a dequate interest in studying, and the rest of student had low interest in studying. Afterward in cycle I, it increased to be eight teen student or 75%, and in cycle II, there were not students with low interest in studying. Meanwhile, the improvement of student’s result of studying can be seen through score achievement of Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). In pre-cycle, there were seven students or 29,17% whose scored had achieved KKM with the average score of 62,08 in class. In cycle I, there were twelve students or 50% was score had achieved KKM with the average score 66,66 in class. In the last cycle, the score of all students had achieved KKM with the average score of 80,83 in class. In conclusion, using simulation method can increase the interest in studying and the result of studying IPS toward 4th grade students at SDN 03 Kalisoro.
