Abstract

This research leads to the motivation of Instagram foodies users in uploading photos on Instagram. The phenomenon of foodies being interesting because of technological development makes foodies not only just connected with food and photography, variation of food menu and presentation of it can be own characteristic of that original region food that phenomenon makes foodies can also associated with culture and lifestyle. The reason why researchers choosed Instagram is because Instagram is a social media which has focused interaction on process of sharing visual content (photo and video). The newest of this research from last research is on the selection of themes and specification theories used. According with the title and description of problem, this research using a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques in this study were conducted by interview. While the sampling technique used is purposive sampling. Data analysis used in this research is Miles and Huberman model analysis. Meanwhile, to test the validity of the data, the researcher uses the Triangulation method of the source which means comparing or checking the degree of confidence of an information obtained through different sources. The result of motivation research of foodies in uploading photos in Instagram shows that the motive of documentation and creativity become the common reason of foodies user in interaction in Instagram. Documentation motif in Instagram is presented in the form of food diary, while creativity motif refers to the form of documenting self creation and food art.
